After the great success of the Rush Dog Portrait project, we decided that it was time to concentrate on Rush Cats!  We sent out an open call for cat models and got close to 150 images in reply.  Our first day of painting lead to some great results as you can see below.  We will continue to update this page as we complete more Rush Cat portraits.

Rush Kids Spring 2008 (present for class 3/15/08)

Rush Kids is a year-round intensive contemporary art education program that brings children into all of our gallery spaces. A small group of students participating in Rush Gallery in the School partnerships along with local students living in walking distance to our galleries are chosen to participate and are selected based on individual achievement as well as their potential to grow with a deeper level of instruction. Students learn about contemporary visual art by looking at works on display at our galleries, through art making workshops with Rush Teaching Artists and on field trips to artists’ studios and other arts institutions.

The Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation is dedicated to providing youth with significant exposure and access to the arts, as well as providing exhibition opportunities to under-represented artists and artists of color. The organization was founded in 1995 by brothers Russell, Danny and Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons. Tangie Murray is Executive Director and Meridith McNeal is Director of Education.
