When I moved into my Brooklyn home I became very interested in what domestic life might have been like in 1863 when the house was built. I began collecting Peterson’s Ladies Magazine from that year. In addition to stories, sheet music, and recipes the magazine included patterns for everyday clothing items including corsets. I used these vintage patterns to create corsets from map fabric.
