In this series exploring the ideas of value, worth and personal expenditure, I have drawn and painted directly on canceled checks issued by George M. Sowden and the Union National Bank in Houston Texas in 1930. The images directly relate to the Pay to the order of line on the check. Those written to Self depict images of self portraits of male artists created in 1930.
